The Weekend Roundup, 'D'

Friday is here so time for  The Weekend Roundup, hosted by Tom. I've been looking around and have found an eclectic mix for this week's post...

Starts with 'D'. I'll go with Grandpa's favorite brand of car, Dodge. (L) In 1959 and my big sister Michele is posing next to Grandpa's 1955 Dodge. Five years later, she is standing in front of Grandpa's new 1964 Dodge station wagon. Same girl, a Dodge and license plate. Kids grow fast!
One of the advantages of using a wheelchair is the views down low. Such as the Dodge script on the hub cap on a beautiful 1936 Dodge. Sharp eyed viewers might see the photog in the reflection...
Double. Awhile back, we did get a double yolk in a single shell. Bon Appétit!
Favorite. Patti captured this expansive view of Ansonia from Fountain Lake. It sits at an elevation of about 340 ft / 104 M above sea level while downtown Ansonia is at about 100 ft. I love this view of our small city!

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 - The day begins anew

The always lovely Patti captured these early Thursday, a beautiful morning of brilliant sun and yet modest temps (66°F / 19°C) and low humidity. And of course, shadows! Which makes them perfect for Shadow Shot Sunday 2! Have a great week hopefully full of sun and shadow!

The Weekend Roundup, 'C'

It is Friday so time for another round of a favorite meme, The Weekend Roundup, hosted by Tom. We are working with the third letter of the alphabet this week as I offer a varied look...

Starts with 'C'. I chose for the first example as Continental Divide. That's my father, the year I believe is 1938.
There is Chili, and here are the three steps in a pot of chili we make occasionally. I like the onions, celery and peppers to be sautéd first, otherwise add it all together. Delicious either way :)
I enjoy a good seafood Chowder (chowdah in Boston). Perfectly for us today, this was enjoyed at Copper City Cafe in Ansonia!
For Couple, how about a Couple of Children? First day of school 2005, grades 12  (Allegra) and 10 (Cameron). Have a great week!

The Weekend Roundup, 'B'

It is Friday so time for another round of a favorite meme, The Weekend Roundup, hosted by Tom. We are working with the second letter of the alphabet this week and we traverse a bit of history while doing so...

Starts with 'B', and a favorite, is Brothers. I hadn't seen my brother Chris (CP) in ages. He is USAF retired and lives in Utah and our paths rarely cross until a family wedding on June 30 where we were captured at the reception. CP is seated behind...

Of course, we Brothers were captured in the past too. Left is Jan. 1, 1983 when he completed basic training. To the right we met again at a family function, July 1992.

Another 'B' takes me back to when I was small and my dad was a travel writer for UPI in New York. An exciting job that paid little alas. However, I'm looking back to 1962 at the Berlin Wall, on the West Berlin side. My father looks so grim in these scenes. Look at the buildings flanking the wall - the windows were walled off so no East Berliner could jump to freedom in the West. A terrible era...
However, Berlin was reunified and in 1991, this sign says so. The American, British and French sectors were West Berlin (the Soviets had East Berlin). Can you guess who took this pic? It was my Brother CP! Have a great week.

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 - Calcium Cuisine

It is time for another edition of Shadow Shot Sunday 2! Since the early winter, we have been tossing eggshells onto the patio as we have heard that any birds will enjoy them. It has been mostly blue jays but here is a large-ish black bird (grackle? crow?) that seems to enjoy this eggshell that is sitting in the shade. Bon appétit

The Weekend Roundup, 'A'

It is Friday so time for another round of a favored meme, The Weekend Roundup, hosted by Tom. The alphabet begins anew this week and here is mine...

Beginning with 'A' is easy to start with as our firstborn is named Allegra. This was taken in 1991 when she was 2 years old and posing in her grandmother' sunglasses. Yes, she has grown up but we know she was little once...
Here is an Artist who was commissioned to paint a mural at Ansonia Middle School
And keeping with the civic theme, here is the Ansonia Public Library. Clad in Longmeadow freestone with its granite foundation from local quarries, it was completed in 1892.
Here is my take on this week's fruit, a fabulous Apple Tart at one of our favorite restaurants, Copper City Cafe also in Ansonia. Have 'A' great week!
