The Weekend Roundup 'H'

It's a rainy Friday in Ansonia, so a perfect day to search the photo archives for Tom's fun meme, The Weekend Roundup. 'H' is the letter for the week, and I am ready!

The first this week is Horse, and this horse's name is Huckleberry. What a majestic look!
Next is a fire truck from our closest firehouse in Ansonia, Hilltop Hose. The volunteer companies in Ansonia are very responsive...
Then there is Hair Salon. This is Invent Hair in our neighbor to the north, Seymour CT.
Our state capitol is Hartford CT. The view is from I-91 North. The onion dome is from the 1865 Colt Armory building undergoing renovation. Patti captured this from the passenger seat - gotta stay safe!
House. This is the family homestead, December 1975 in East Hartford, CT. Six of the seven Villers kids are here on a snowy day.

The Weekend Roundup 'G'

Ah, the weekend is here and time for Tom's fun meme The Weekend Roundup, this week featuring the letter 'G' which begins this week's post...

I begin with my Grandparents, Ralph and Agnes Villers. To the left, they are at their 50th anniversary service on August 21, 1976 at St. Peter's Church in Steubenville, Ohio. The entire family went to this wonderful event. To the right, I believe this to be their wedding day in 1926. Can't be totally sure, but they do look happy :)
On the next day (Aug. 22, 1976) of that fun weekend, we also see Grandchildren, my Dad and Aunt Terry (their children), their spouses and 12 grandkids. Here is by the pool at the Steubenville Holiday Inn. I'm in the back row, third from the right.
Then there is Glassware on display at Country Cottage in Seymour, CT. They sell an eclectic array of home decor, estate jewelry, seasonal items, and more.
Favorite. I love this photo that the always lovely Patti. This view of Pickett’s Pond at Osbornedale State Park in Derby CT. I know it's Winter, but this may be illusory. Look closely, you might even think it’s summer instead. I see an azure sea with gentle whitecaps breaking at the shore. And I see the horizon with fair weather clouds above a calm sea. What do you see?
Finally, there is Green. More specifically, the New Haven CT Green on a Spring day a few years ago. I'm looking forward to green leaves (and warm temps) in a couple of months!

Shadow Shot Sunday - Neighborhood Ice Rink

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 is here! The city of Ansonia (CT) purchased a portable ice rink for skaters of all ages. It has been placed in a neighborhood park -  no landscaping nor a warming shed, but it is functional. It is an old neighborhood but full of shade and little dollops of shade here and there.

Patti captured these at a consignment shop with donated skates available for those who cannot afford them. Sitting on the reflecting mirror, it looks like big skates in a small pond. Or something like that.

The Weekend Roundup 'F'

Tom hosts the fun meme The Weekend Roundup, and I am ready with a few blasts from the past to take cars of this week's favorite letter at least :)

Begins with 'F' starts with Family, this being the Villers family of East Hartford, CT. This I believe to be Eater Sunday 1969 with all seven children. (one more since 1964 and last week's post there were only six). Note the late '60s hair and with my gold blazer and turtleneck...where's the chain?
Then there is a Field where I stand in 1983. Guess where the field is? It is in Fargo North Dakota!
Another 'F' is Flat. The day was July 30, 1983, the place is the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport, the flat are the two tires on the starboard side of a United Airlines 737 from Chicago. The flat occurred upon landing at MSP. I captured this as we awaited the bus...It just felt like a flat tire on your vehicle
Finally there is Ford, this being another view of my Ford E-150 van that I had from 1998-2010. It was a great vehicle but really big and used a lot of gas. I donated it with 158,000 miles (254,000 km). It had at least another 100K miles of life in it, a very durable vehicle indeed...
Flower. Here is a flower (weed) growing through a rock. quite a feat I'd say! This is at the Savin Rock by Long island Sound in West Haven, CT.
Favorite. The always lovely Patti captured tis Blue Jay taking off from the roof. 'I'm outta here' he seems to say! Have a great week!

The Weekend Roundup 'E'

It's Friday and Tom's fun meme The Weekend Roundup is back. Onward to this week's prompts...

Starts with 'E'. I'll go with Eggs (Eggland's Best brand, hence the stamp :) and an Egg dish, a frittata we made awhile back with peppers, onions, tomatoes, potatoes, cream and mozzarella. A tasty 'E'!
Then there is East Hartford, Connecticut - where I grew up. This is Easter Sunday 1964 in front of our Wickham Drive home. I'm the only boy here...
And how about Equestrian? This old print was taken at the 1984 Olympics at Santa Anita Park in the foothills above Los Angeles. The horses were beautiful, all mostly chestnut, some with braided manes.
A Favorite. The always lovely Patti places eggshells outside for the Blue Jays as we understand they like the shells. Here, she captured one lucky bird!
Evening. The moon arises on Winter's evening over our neighbor's roof. A very cold eve but a beautiful sky.
