Shadow Shot Sunday Mock Accident

It is time again for this week's shady meme, Shadow Shot Sunday 2. We look for shadows here, there and everywhere. Last week, there was a mock accident at Ansonia High School to impress upon students the perils of impaired and distracted driving that I covered it for our newsletter. It was a beautiful day with lots of shadows.

I focus here on how the scene was set, including the performing actor students - the lone 'fatality' was made up in lots of fake blood. When the sheet was placed over her, it was eerie, and felt just so real. The 'dead' victim was taken away in a hearse, the impaired/distracted driver was 'arrested', the SkyHealth helicopter landed, the Ansonia Police and Fire departments and Ansonia Rescue Medical Service all arrived (it was an actual call over the emergency frequencies). It all seemed real...In the last frame, the look of concern is on the face Ansonia Mayor Dave Cassetti. Let's hope a few students took it to heart as well.

Friday Hunt, 2017.1.20

It is Friday so again, it is time for Teresa's fun meme Friday Hunt. The clues are here and I am ready!

Starts with 'U'. Years ago, the family visited the Submarine Force Museum in Groton, CT. Here the kids, much younger, are standing at the screw (prop) of the USS Nautilus, now permanently moored in the Thames River here on the US Navy Submarine Base. More fun is a word we learned, the German word for submarine: Unterseeboot

And there is Unusual. Last week, I mentioned our Team McVillers has an unusual team logo, consisting of Bunnyducks. So, this is the iron-on design for our team. As our artist friend Rich DiCarlo, the designer, notes that flocks fly in a Vee formation - they likewise walk too in a Vee formation. Naturally :)
Week's Favorite. Patti captured this guy in the mulberry tree in our front yard. How winsome! This is not a stock photo as the white blur in the background is an old 1998 Ford Escort parked in a driveway. Not always a fan - however this bush-tailed suburban squirrel can easily make one a fan!
Family. I'll choose the Villers (my) family, the seven of us just after number seven child was born in 1964 and the last time all seven of us were captured in one frame at my sister Claudia's wedding in 1987. Note the outfit she wore: her formal Air Force officer attire as did her fiancĂ©, a USAF officer and my brother, yet another active USAF Airman. Alas there are only five of us still here, so all seven in any pic is nice...

Shadow Shot Sunday - Shadowy School

I am back to participate in Shadow Shot Sunday 2. There have been interesting developments in the interim...

The always lovely Patti had a kidney transplant on May 9 - the process beginning when my sister Suzanne offered to be a live donor for Patti. She feels much better with her new kidney, even with the pill regimen she currently enjoys. After two visits this week to her transplant team at Yale-New Haven Hospital, all agree that she is doing very well :)

As for today's post, I have a part-time position at Ansonia High School, a mere ten minutes (or less) from home. the first shadow was something that captured my attention first, It is the skylight in the atrium and the angular shadows are rather appealing. I edited this in a b&w but will bring the camera for another shot soon.

The second photo is a shot toward the front. Now that the foliage is here, nice shadows show up nicely. Happy Spring and shadow!

Friday Hunt, 2017.1.19

It is Friday and time again for Teresa's fun meme Friday Hunt.
It has been an interesting couple of weeks. The always lovely Patti had a kidney transplant on May 9 (where the process began when my sister Suzanne would be a live donor for Patti); after two visits this week to her transplant team at Yale-New Haven Hospital, all is progressing very well :)

So it is time to get back into the fun Friday routine!

Begins with 'T'. How about our Team McVillers, resplendent in our pink bunnyduck team shirts ready for the Griffin Center for Cancer Care 5K
Tennis with players in wheelchairs on the courts at Eisenhower Park, Milford CT
Week's Favorite. Linus McDonald relaxes without a care in the world...
Food. Well wishers sent food when Patti got home. The upside down pizza and chicken fricassee were wonderful. However, the 2 Lbs box of local chocolates get the nod today - we can all celebrate now!

Friday Hunt, 2017.1.17

It is yet another rainy and raw Friday in Southern New England, but no worries. It is time again for Teresa’s fun meme, Friday Hunt. Without further ado, here are my look at this week’s clues.

Starts with ‘R’. I am choosing Renovation (and wreck would be perfect phonetically at least :). These pics were taken on 30 October 1996, and it was the beginning of a new wheelchair ramp. Which first required removing the front stoop and sidewalk. It was an amazing process handled by large workers and heavy equipment to remove the old before creating the new…

Week's Favorite. Every Spring, without fail, this lone tulip arises in the very spot in the side yard. It is a sure sign of Spring - it is pretty, but how about a few sunny warm days? 2017 has been way too cool so far
Window. What window is complete without furry family feline friend Linus McDonald? Not this one!
