Friday Hunt 2017.2.22

It is the first Friday of December - shorter and colder days perhaps, but like every Friday, time for the great meme, Friday Hunt, kindly hosted by Teresa. Onward to the prompts...

Starts with 'V'. That one is easy! My last name is Villers, the family and I owned Volkswagens and the Villers family went on Vacations in the distant past, so the vacations in today's post are today are Vintage.
A Vintage Villers Vacation in 1961 in the briny Atlantic low tide in Brigantine, New Jersey. Only five children watched over by Aunt Terry.
In Atlantic City, 1965. A great Vacation, and notice how mom picked matching plaid for the girls - and coordinating plaid for my shorts!
Here is an early slideshow of the 1965 vacation in Atlantic City
My brother at age 4 by the family 1964 VW Beetle. Our family also owned a 1968 VW Type 2 Microbus. Cool kid in '69, he's the sibling who lives in Utah.
This was my favorite vehicle, a 1982 VW Rabbit L, manual transmission and A/C, basic. But it was reliable and fun. I only sold it because we both owned 2-door VW's with a baby on the way and the older one had to leave the nest...

Festive. This was from a surprise 60th birthday party at our home in 1991. I think the Garfield balloon and streamers gifts give a festive air the day after.

Wood. Our kitchen was renovated awhile back. The cabinets and trim were made of wood. I think :)

Friday Hunt 2017.2.18

Friday is here and time again for Teresa's fun meme, Friday Hunt. And away we go...

Starts with 'R'. Naturally, I start with my name…I am in the middle as Ralph III, Grandpa (Ralph I) to the left and Dad (Ralph II) to the right. On the Atlantic at Brigantine, NJ, summer of 1964.
I thought about this, but thought it works as an ‘R’. It is me on my 18th birthday, and it is an age of majority card I.D. which meant I could legally purchase alcohol in 1973. I look the part of a sullen 18 year old with ‘70s long hair…
Finally here I am in college in 1975 in the fashion bane of the era - plaid. Hey, everybody just loved plaid back then :)
Glow. I chose these two from Feb. 10, and it is the glowing moon taken across the street from our home. It is a clear moon with an almost amber glow. It was a cold night the day after a snowstorm and a perfectly clear sky.
Vegetable. I had this as an entrée at a fabulous restaurant, Carmines, in New Haven CT. It was delicious roasted vegetables, eggplant, asparagus, zucchini and peppers. Great eating and prompts this week Teresa!

Friday Hunt, 2017.1.10

With an Arctic front now enveloping the Northeast USA, it is again time for Teresa's fun photo meme, Friday Hunt. Today the tenth letter of the alphabet is prominent...

Starts with 'J'. This is a bit harder to showcase straight up, but peripherally I think so. So, my choice today is the Garden State, New Jersey. I go way back for my first three Jersey pics, vacations on the Atlantic on the barrier island of Brigantine - in a day where lots of independent motels existed, not like today where everything is a time share. However, the briny air and crashing waves still remain to this day :)

Week's Favorite. Patti captured this moonrise about four hours ago outside our front door in Ansonia. The snow ended, the cold front is here and the sky is perfect to see the moon in all its glory
Birds. This is the scene on Pickett's Pond at Osbornedale State Park in Derby yesterday, when it was a warm 61°F (16°C) - figure 15°F tonight. The gulls look relaxed then, probablynot so much with ice on the pond. So, Winter remains :(

Shadow Shot Sunday - Vintage Seaside Shadows

Winter in New England can be stylish (see: freshly fallen snow), yet cold and when a seasonal 'warm' day might be 40°F (4.5°C) it is still a cold day. So for warmth, Shadow Shot Sunday 2 is graced with a pic from over 47 years ago for a complete Villers family shoot along the New Jersey barrier island shore town of Brigantine. Subtle shadows exist all around and take a look at the styles from 1969 (note my gold blazer and turtleneck sans a chain). Retro, stylish and shadowy, it looks warm at least...
