The Weekend Roundup, 'D'

Friday is here so time for  The Weekend Roundup, hosted by Tom. I've been looking around and have found an eclectic mix for this week's post...

Starts with 'D'. I'll go with Grandpa's favorite brand of car, Dodge. (L) In 1959 and my big sister Michele is posing next to Grandpa's 1955 Dodge. Five years later, she is standing in front of Grandpa's new 1964 Dodge station wagon. Same girl, a Dodge and license plate. Kids grow fast! 

One of the advantages of using a wheelchair is the views down low. Such as the Dodge script on the hub cap on a beautiful 1936 Dodge. Sharp eyed viewers might see the photog in the reflection...

Double. Awhile back, we did get a double yolk in a single shell. Bon Appétit!

Favorite. Patti captured this expansive view of Ansonia from Fountain Lake. It sits at an elevation of about 340 ft / 104 M above sea level while downtown Ansonia is at about 100 ft. I love this view of our small city!

Friday Hunt 2017.2.21

It is the day after Thanksgiving in the U.S., which means it is the day for a favored meme, Friday Hunt hosted by Teresa. On to the prompts!

Starts with 'U'. Here is my brother Christopher's home, the 45th state admitted to the Union. Upon retiring from the USAF at Hill AFB, he and his family settled in suburban Salt Lake City. My niece was a Utah State Ute, hence the flag. It seems like a wonderful place to live. If one likes cold an snow that is...

My brother sent me this Utah pic a few years ago. At one of their favorite ski places, Snowbasin, they saw a para-ski instructor who posed for him. How cool, a single ski device for someone who cannot stand. Not that I have tried it...but who knows someday?

Collage. I took a wheelchair height photo of a 1936 Dodge awhile back - sitting low, I tend to see things a bit differently - and the wide whitewall and chrome hubcap is so retro stylish! I made a few other edits to make a collage of cool style...

“I ate this” I didn't eat the whole pie - really! This is a fabulous white pie at a local pizzeria, made of Mozzarella and Romano, escarole, white beans and (lots of) garlic. Great eating - and your brownies not only look divine, but would be a perfect ending to this meal!

Friday Hunt, 2017.1.4

It is Friday (yay :) and time for this week's version of Teresa's fun meme Friday Hunt. She suggests the the message and we happily comply in today's iteration...

Starts with 'D' I've chosen a very obvious one here, that being the vehicles named Dodge. I currently own one, a 2008 Grand Caravan setup to carry a wheelchair and I can drive (in he 2015 Ansonia Memorial Day Parade)

The next being my very first wheelchair van, a full-sized 1989 Dodge B250, the day after I purchased it, April 21, 1996. Monstrous and fuel thirsty (12-14 MPG), but a small cost for freedom and independence...

A superb hubcap, wheel, whitewall and shadow from a beautifully restored 1936 Dodge that I captured (and am captured within) from Wheelchair height. 

Week's Favorite. There is a new portable ice rink in ansonia, and although it has been too warm for ice, the city of Ansonia is accepting donated ice skates so those less fortunate can skate on the rink. Ansonia Mayor Dave Cassetti is very enthusiastic, our friend Phyllis is facilitating the donations and Patti publicized it in our Thursday Valley-Voice newsletter. Pictured here are the containers of skates at Ansonia City Hall. Just need a few days of frigid temps to open up the rink...
